ACP Anant Shinde cancels scheduled visit to three proposed sites selected for setting up of station

MiD DAY had reported on July 22 that the city police were keen on a
private property for the police station
Three land plots in Koregaon Park lane, North Main road and Bund Garden road are under consideration for the long-drawn-out process of setting up the police station. Besides a plot belonging to a private individual, land in the possession of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and District Collectorate are also being considered.
ACP Shinde had said last Thursday that he would visit the three selected plots yesterday.
By evening, after constant follow-ups with Shinde, it was evident that the scheduled survey of the plots had gone off the activity list for the day of the top cop. Shinde told MiD DAY that he would complete the visit by afternoon. By evening around 5pm, the visit was still not made. Shinde said that he could not find time to make the visit. When the importance of the visit was stressed upon, Shinde admitted it was an important task and assured the visit would happen later.

Approval awaited
City Improvement Committee (CIC) of the Pune Municipal Corporation had on July 8 passed a resolution in which approval was given to change the reservation for a primary school and playground on the final plot number 379 of the Sangamwadi town planning scheme. If the CIC resolution is approved by the General Body, changes would be made in the Development Plan regarding this plot which measures about 40,000 square feet and out of which 10,000 square feet would be reserved for the police station. This procedure will consume considerable time and only after this the land will be handed over to police department.
