Another piece of the puzzle of the German Bakeryu00a0 blast fell into place when the National Investigation Agency found that a Thai chip, which is mostly used in remote-controlled toys, was used in the bomb. Pune forensic experts found fine particles of the Thai chip at the blast site.
According to a senior police official, the chips are popular, as they can be transported inside toys and do not arouse suspicion. The more sophisticated chips used in the 2008 serial blasts in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Delhi lose out on that score.
Meanwhile, a Pune cop said they had been working on the case along with the state police to gain from the latter's experience of investigating blast cases. They are also closely working with the Gujarat and Kashmir police. Meanwhile, the NIA is conducting most of its share of the investigation from Kashmir and Lucknow.
An NIA official explained, "The reason behind this is that such chips are commonly used in Kashmir and a number of accused, who have used such chips, are imprisoned in Lucknow."
