The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested two more persons in connection with 'fake' pilots scam on Thursay. One of the accused had obtained Commercial Pilot Licence from DGCA the other one wasn't given any licence as DGCA official had doubt on the certificate furnished by him.
DCP, Crime, Ashok Chand said that this is the third module that has been busted by the police in connection with the scam. The arrested pilots have been identified as Param Prakash (21) and Anirban Sannigrahi (22).
"On 28 April we arrested Captain Param Prakash from Delhi. He had obtained Commercial Pilot's Licence (CPL) in 2009 from DGCA, submitting the fake mark sheet of Aviation Meteorology. During interrogation he told the police that he gave Rs 50,000 to a tout who helped him secure the fake mark sheet of a flying club," said the DCP.
Police said that Param Prakash is a native of Palwal in Haryana. He did join Kanpur Flying Club in 2006 and appeared in an exam but could clear only four papers out of five. The official added that Anirban Sannigrahi is a native of Kolkata. He wasn't given any licence as DGCA officials had doubts about him.
"The tout promised him a CPL and demanded Rs 5 lakh. Anirban gave the tout Rs 50,000 and got a fake mark sheet to submit with the DGCA. Three more pilots and two middlemen are yet to be arrested," said the police.
DCP Ashok Chand said that Delhi police has arrested 16 persons so far including 10 pilots, 3 DGCA officials, 2 forgers and a tout.
