After Venky's Group acquired English Premier League's (EPL) Blackburn Rovers Football Club, it made the first changes to the club yesterday. The Venky's Group on behalf of Blackburn Rovers Club confirmed the departure of manager Sam Allardyce and assistant manager Neil McDonald.
Anuradha J Desai, chairperson of Venky's Group, said: "We have a vision for the football club and we feel that it has the potential to do much better. This decision has obviously been taken for the betterment and development of the club."
Regarding the replacement, Steve Kean, she said, "Steve Kean will make for an excellent manager. He is a hard-working coach and has been coaching them. He is very sincere too."
The team-coach relationship is often critical to the team's performance and it remains to be seen how the team has responded to the new appointment.
She concluded: "We have a vision for the team. Whatever has been done, it is for the betterment of the team only."
