Who is Jogen Chowdhury?
His painting, titled Day Dreaming, sold for a record Rs 2.95 crore at a Sotheby's auction. But what do you really know about him?
Wikipedia says that Jogen Chowdhury is an eminent Indian painter and considered an important painter of 21st century India. He lives and works in Santiniketan. He graduated from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata and subsequently at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts, Paris in the year 1967.
This site says that Jogen Chowdhury was born in Daharpara village, Faridpur, Bangladesh.
Believe it or not, but Chowdhury, whose first job was as an art teacher in a school in Howrah, also joined as a textile designer in the Handloom Board.
