The Raghopur constituency in Bihar offered a moment of relief for the Mahagathbandhan after its chief ministerial candidate and of Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav, secured a clear victory. He won 1,18,597 votes, defeating the BJP Satish Kumar, who received 1,04,065 votes, reported the ANI.

Tejashwi, the sitting MLA and Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar elections 2025, has maintained a strong hold over Raghopur, having won the seat in 2015 and 2020, both times defeating Satish Kumar Yadav.

The Jan Suraaj Party finished far behind, with only 2,399 votes.

A long-standing stronghold of the Yadav family, Raghopur once again delivered a solid victory for the RJD despite intense competition from the BJP and other contenders.

Raghopur has a deep political history tied to the Yadav family. Lalu Prasad Yadav won the seat in 1995 and 2000, both times while serving as Chief Minister. His wife, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, later represented the constituency three times -- from the 2000 by-election and the following two assembly elections.

However, in 2010, Satish Kumar, then with the Janata Dal (United), defeated Rabri Devi in an unexpected political upset, winning by a margin of 13,006 votes. He secured 64,222 votes, compared with Rabri Devi’s 51,216.

Satish Kumar later lost the seat to Tejashwi Yadav in both 2015 and 2020.

As per the Election Commission, by 7:30 pm, the NDA won 133 seats -- BJP 68, JD(U) 50, LJP(RV) 12, HAM 2 and RLM 1.

The Mahagathbandhan lagged behind with 19 seats -- RJD 15, Congress 2, CPI(M-L) 1 and CPI(M) 1.

The Bihar election 2025 saw a renewed and well-coordinated BJP–JD(U) alliance, which significantly reshaped the political landscape. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly backing CM Nitish Kumar, the coalition projected unity, focusing on welfare schemes, development projects, infrastructure growth and administrative stability.

The combination of PM Modi’s national popularity and Nitish Kumar’s grassroots presence proved to be a powerful electoral force, helping the alliance move towards a sweeping victory. As counting neared completion, the Modi–Nitish partnership emerged as the decisive factor of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

Bihar also recorded a historic 67.13 per cent voter turnout -- the highest since 1951 -- with women voting in higher numbers than men
