In a major reshuffle of the Gujarat Cabinet, Majura legislator Harsh Sanghavi was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister (CM), while 25 ministers were sworn in as part of the Bhupendra Patel-led government on Friday at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, news agency ANI reported.

Harsh Sanghavi, a three-time Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), had previously held the portfolio of minister of state (MoS) for home in the previous cabinet.
Jamnagar North MLA Rivaba Jadeja, who is the wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, has also been inducted into the cabinet as a minister of state.

The oaths of office were administered by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat. With the new inductions, the cabinet strength now stands at 26, including CM Patel, ANI reported.
The reshuffle comes three years into the government’s formation and two years ahead of the 2027 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Elections as a part of the administration’s bid to bring in new faces while retaining experienced leadership.

Visnagar MLA Rushikesh Patel – previously held health, education, and law portfolios
Kamrej MLA Praful Pansheriya – MoS parliamentary affairs
Jasdan MLA Kunvarji Bavaliya – Water resources
Pardi MLA Kanubhai Desai – Finance, energy, and petrochemicals
Bhavnagar Rural MLA Parshottam Solanki – MoS fisheries
New entrants into the cabinet
Gandevi MLA Naresh Patel
Asarwa MLA Darshna Vaghela, ex-deputy mayor of Ahmedabad
Kodinar MLA Pradyuman Vaja, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha chief
Morbi MLA Kantilal Amrutiya
Vadodara City MLA Manisha Vakil.
Notably, Porbandar MLA Arjun Mondhwadia, who switched to BJP from Congress last year, has also been inducted into the cabinet.

On Thursday, all the 16 ministers, except CM Patel, had resigned to facilitate the cabinet reshuffle.
Under constitutional provisions, Gujarat can have a maximum of 27 ministers (15 per cent of the 182-member Assembly). Previously, the council of ministers comprised 17 members, including the CM, of which eight held cabinet rank and the others were the ministers of state.
