In a major outbreak, security forces thwarted an arms smuggling attempt along the International Border in the R S Pura sector by recovering an AK assault rifle along with a magazine on Tuesday, officials said.
As reported by news agency PTI, the recovery was made in a joint search operation by the Border Security Force (BSF) and police from Arnia after getting information about suspicious movement.
While asserting about the operation, the officials from the forces said that “the search operation in the area was still continuing when the last reports were received,” as cited by news agency PTI.
Earlier on September 8, a Pakistani intruder was also apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) at the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu on Monday. The operation was confirmed by the forces deployed at the RS Pura Sector of Jammu.
Continuing the operations of busting terror groups and seizing illegal arms and ammunition, the BSF earlier had also apprehended five persons and seized pistols, heroin and a drone on the Punjab border, the BSF Punjab said, reported ANI.
The report also said that BSF Punjab troops also foiled multiple smuggling attempts along the border. In a crackdown against narco-terror, acting on intelligence, BSF and ANTF Amritsar apprehended one smuggler near Chabbal, Tarn Taran, and seized 504 grams of heroin, a mobile and a bike from their possession.
Following that, at Sur Singh Market, Tarn Taran, a joint team also detained four smugglers with 5.032 kg of heroin, two pistols, a Scorpio, four mobiles, two bikes and Rs 1000 cash, it further added.
Further, during night hours, vigilant troops intercepted a drone near Ranian, conducted a search operation and seized a DJI Air 3 drone with pistol parts and a magazine. Yet another operation in Tarn Taran led to the recovery of pistol parts from fields near Wan village.
These major apprehensions and seizures highlight BSF's dedicated efforts to safeguard borders and crush Pak-backed narco-terror networks, said BSF Punjab.
On the other hand, a couple of weeks back, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also carried out searches at 22 locations across five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror conspiracy case.
According to the officials, the searches were conducted at eight locations in Bihar, one each in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, two in Uttar Pradesh, and nine in Jammu and Kashmir, as reported by news agency ANI.
Officials from the forces, while addressing the raid, highlighted, “The raids are being carried out in close coordination with state police at the residences and premises of individuals suspected of having links with anti-national networks.”
