“Wardha, a district sanctified by the residence of Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinoba Bhave, should not lag in development,” said Deputy Chief Minister (CM) Ajit Pawar. He was addressing officials at the district collectorate on Thursday. In his address, the deputy CM urged all the departments to work together on people-centric projects, assuring that the state government will provide all necessary support for development initiatives.
Pawar reviewed various ongoing and planned development works in the district. The meeting was attended by legislators Sanjay Khodke, Sameer Kunawar, and Rajesh Bakane, District Collector Vanmathi C, Chief Executive Officer Parag Soman, Superintendent of Police Anurag Jain, Deputy Conservator of Forests Harveer Singh, Additional District Collector Narendra Phulzhele, Additional CEO Suraj Gohad, and District Planning Officer Aniruddha Rajurwar, along with other departmental officials.
He emphasised prioritising innovative projects and instructed officials to avoid procurement-related works under these schemes. Pawar assured that funds would be promptly made available from the district annual plan as needed and called for quality execution of projects under the Sevagram development plan, including submission of proposals for additional works suggested by local representatives, revised administrative approvals, and installation of CCTV systems in Sevagram.
Highlighting the state government’s 150-day reform programme, Pawar urged all stakeholders to ensure that Wardha ranks first in the initiative.
He also stressed that beneficiaries should not be deprived of housing under Central schemes, and if land is unavailable, vacant government plot should be allocated to ensure houses are built. He encouraged replication of successful solar panel initiatives by women’s self-help groups under the Umed programme and instructed that proposals for new groups be submitted for approval.
Emphasising on agriculture, Pawar announced funding for the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Selsura and directed immediate filling of the vacant District Superintendent Agriculture Officer post in Wardha, after officials raised the issue during the meeting. The Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) also highlighted key district needs, including desilting of dams, Shivar Yojana initiatives, the new Hinganghat Police Station, a 400-bed hospital in Hinganghat, and development of B-class pilgrimage sites such as Koteshwar Devasthan. Proposals for Central schemes were to be submitted on priority as these attract substantial funding from the Union government, he directed officials.
Pawar also lauded the district administration for assigning unique IDs to infrastructure projects, making all project information accessible with a single click. He urged the state to replicate Wardha’s model across Maharashtra.
During the meeting, the district collector presented detailed reports on the district annual plan, Sevagram development plan, pilgrimage site development, infrastructure, irrigation, industry, targeted talukas, health, sports, housing, transport, education, women and child development, water conservation, and energy projects.
