Within hours of the attack, the assailant, identified as 22-year-old Sajid, was gunned down in an encounter by the police. Sajid attempted to flee but was confronted by law enforcement officers.
Sajid killed Ayush, 12, and Ahaan alias Honey, 8, while their brother Yuvraj, 10, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Sajid, wearing blood-soaked clothes, was traced to a forest area and engaged in gunfire with the police. He sustained a bullet wound during the exchange and succumbed to his injuries.
According to reports, Sajid entered the victims' house, where he encountered their grandmother before proceeding to the second floor where the boys were.
Following the horrific incident, family members and local residents reacted with anger, resulting in the vandalisation of shops and damage to property, including a motorcycle.
Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar, confirmed that the attack was driven by personal enmity and reiterated that there was no communal angle to the case.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, with the bodies of the deceased children undergoing post-mortem examinations, and the injured child receiving medical attention at the district hospital. The police are also monitoring the situation closely to ensure peace and order in the area.
