On May 5th, the Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes on the Houthi-controlled port city of Hodeidah in Yemen, retaliating against a ballistic missile attack a day earlier by Iran-backed Houthi rebels near Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport. The missile caused damage near Terminal 3 and disrupted travel for over 66,000 passengers. In response, 20 Israeli fighter jets targeted Houthi infrastructure, including Hodeidah Port and a factory in Bajil, with 50 munitions dropped. Yemeni officials reported two deaths and over 40 injuries. The Houthis condemned the strikes, claiming economic targets were hit. The U.S. confirmed coordination with Israel but did not participate directly, instead conducting its own strikes on Houthi targets the same day. Regional tensions remain high amid ongoing hostilities
