Even though peace talks are happening in Istanbul, the recent military actions by both Ukraine and Russia show that the war is still very active. After more than three years of fighting, both sides have increased their attacks in the last few days. In a recent event, Ukraine damaged a key bridge that connects Russia to the Crimean Peninsula by using explosives underwater. According to Reuters, Ukraine’s security service (SBU) said they used 1,100 kilograms (about 2,400 pounds) of explosives. The blast, which happened early in the morning, damaged the pillars of the bridge below the water. This bridge is important because Russian forces have used it to bring supplies during the war. It was also a major project for Russian President Vladimir Putin and was used during the 2022 invasion to reach Crimea and take control of parts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.
