Making sense of the good, bad and often strange trending topics online

As reports of the Delhi Police wanting to interrogate politician Amar Singh in the cash-for-votes scam began trickling in, a certain Ramesh Srivats had this to say: 'It's time Amar Singh became a verb that means "obtain using dubious means".

Eg. He's been amarsingh a lot of wealth.' Someone with the handle Ratrage pointed out that, if the Singh tapes are anything to go by, 'politicos, media, actors and businessmen are all in it together, for the taste of it, for the fun of it.'

Over rated added: 'I hope Singh doesn't try to hijack the news cycle by claiming Rupert Murdoch's minions hacked his phone.'

A whole lot of talk
The July 13 bomb blasts reportedly figured high in the Indo-US strategic dialogue in New Delhi between visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and External Affairs Minister S M Krishna. This didn't impress everyone. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma tweeted: 'Clinton says the blast was intended to provoke fear.

I wouldn't have thought of that in a million years if she hadn't pointed it out. I want to touch her feet.' Rohit added: 'The mute button was invented for Clinton talking about world politics.' And David Silverstone had a word of advice: 'Hillary should spend more time at home keeping a close eye on her Willie.'

Without malice

Subtle insults became an amusing trending topic, yielding gems like these 'you've got a lovely nose on that pimple', 'you have just the right face for radio', 'you sing better when you have a cold', 'I'll start being nicer if you start being smarter' and, my favourite, 'you tweet like Salman Khan.'

The last word

More cash, gold and silver tumbled out of cupboards in the late Sathya Sai Baba's residential quarters in Puttaparthi. This compelled talking head Suhel Seth to ask, 'Was he a Godman or a Goldman?'
