Netas should live like aam aadmi

This refers to your report 'Grieving mom's PIL questions VIP security' that was published in MiD DAY on March 26. A part of me is still seething with rage and I am still scared to venture out into the city, scared of an unknown terror lurking somewhere; scared whether I will return to the safety of my home. The 26/11 terror attacks only intensify the feeling of being vulnerable with no security blanket;
no succour.

The aam aadmi is exposed to all kinds of dangers and insecurities, whereas these VIPs move inside a mobile fort fortified by their security personnel. How would they realise the vulnerability of the common man to security threats when they are constantly protected by security cover?

It is time we withdrew the security of our VIPs. A lot of public money is spent protecting them.

Politics is big business. The netas call it service to the nation, but it only means amassing assets totally disproportionate to their income. They enjoy unlimited clout and wield ruthless power on theu00a0 public. This has been going on for years.u00a0

Strip the politicians of the security cover and perks. Let us make them feel like the aam aadmi and find out how many of them actually want to serve the nation. Let us stop them fromu00a0 romancing power.
