For a footballer, there is no bigger event than the World Cup and I can imagine the kind of excitement everyone would be going through the world over.

This World Cup also promises to be an exciting one because a lot of teams are looking good. Brazil, as always are the front runners because of the quality of players and the type of football they play. They are looking very solid in defence and at the top. Argentina are also not far behind and one can never discount the Maradona factor. Even though they did not do very well in the qualifiers, having a charismatic personality like Maradona can inspire the team to play even better. There's also Spain, who are the reigning Euro champs. They have one of the most balanced sides in the tournament and will be a threat to any team. Same goes for England too who have a lot of stars and a lot of experience. Another team I believed will do well is Portugal. They have been drawn in the Group of Death with Brazil but they are a very attractive side and like Brazil, have very high ambitions.

The best thing about the Cup finals is that it pits the best against best and that produces inspiring football. Also, more often than not, you will have a new name coming to the fore. There is no better place than the finals for a player to establish himself as one of the best in the world.

From the current lot of superstars, I am certain all of them will have an impact. There are some big names like Lionel Messi, Kaka, Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, who will have a huge impact on the finals and one of them will surely stake his claim to being the best in the world.

Only time will tell who that one player will be.
