Pakistan is bristling at English Prime Minister David Cameron's remarks that it is an exporter of terror. Cameron made these remarks on a recent visit to India. Reports filter in that Cameron's effigies are being burnt in Pakistan and there is tension between Islamabad and London over the remarks.u00a0

Protests about Cameron's words have, as expected, been followed by the now (we are weary of them) familiar Pak statement that the country too is a victim of terrorism. One fails to understand the perennial Pakistan whine about Pakistan not being an exporter of terrorism but being a victim of it. Pakistan politicians mouth their favourite words after every bomb blast or when put on the spot about Pakistan terrorism. The refrain goes: Even Pakistan is suffering a lot because of terrorism.

What is India really supposed to do about that? Is that an excuse for Pakistan terrorists to come into India and do a 26/11? Pakistan says that because they suffer, the world, India included, cannot link terror and Pak. If they want sympathy, there is not too much of it here in India as the wounds of 26/11 are still too raw.

What if Indians had crossed into Pakistan, gone into its five-star hotels, railway stations and shot and killed Pakistanis and then told the world as if by explanation: Do not label us as a terrorist nation. That is because we have bomb blasts in our country too and we are suffering a lot because of it. We too, are victims of terrorism. Would Pakistan have any sympathy or empathy for India?

Pakistan's suffering is its own problem. Why is India expected to understand the situation across the border? If they are not exporters of terror then why are blasts happening everyday in Pakistan? Where are these terrorists coming from? Why did David Headley say ISI has a hand in Mumbai blasts? Almost every day, there is some Pak group claiming 'credit' for a suicide bombing in its own country.u00a0

Even as we write this, a Press Trust of India report from Peshawar says Pak Interior Minister Rehman Malik has tweeted that New Delhi must realise that his country is paying a heavy price for fighting militancy which has claimed hundreds of lives. Malik's remarks on the social networking website Twitter then went on: International community can see what price we are paying for fighting terrorism! But still we are blamed! We are victims of terrorism and we expect support not blame game.

There we go again.
