We, the people, have been inadvertently caught in the war between the Centre and the state about vaccine distribution favouritism and shortage.

Ever since the current state government came to power, we have witnessed Centre vs state tussles on numerous fronts with the acrimony open and public. Whether it is about an actor’s death, television anchors, the Sachin Waze controversy, the wars have been never ending.

For years people have paid the price as the clashes between different parties escalate. Today though we watch bitterly as the vaccine war has intensified and people are awaiting their shot, turned away from centres because there are no stocks. The state and Centre are slinging arrows at each other.

Your voters do not care right now about who is right or wrong, who is politicising issues and who is not, they really are not concerned about your finger pointing. They want their vaccine, instead of this frustrating and immature acrimony that we see now. Statistics about which state is getting what and how much, and why BJP-ruled states are getting more stocks may very well be true or that may be a matter for dispute. It is important though to remember that this is not the common man’s concern, their worry in these desperate times is whether stocks will last till their turn comes to take the jab.

It is disgusting to see our leaders indulge in this, at such challenging and tragic times for many. We also ask them if they see the irony, telling people to take the shot but when the person in question reaches the centre, there are no shots available. Stop this inane battle and simply ensure, whoever is responsible, that vials reach the centres, and the vaccine in the arm of those who use that same arm to punch your party symbol on Electronic Voting Machines.
