Is Google Sundae sending a hint?

The 119th anniversary of the ice cream sundae has been marked by a Google Doodle, sparking speculation that the search giant is close to releasing its Ice Cream operating system.

The world-famous dessert, which is made using a combination of ice cream and syrup, was invented in 1892 by New York soda fountain proprietor Chester Platt, according to icecreamsundae.com.

The site explains that Platt took some ordinary ice cream, then went completely off recipe
and covered it in cherry sauce. Because he served it on a Sunday, he named it the Cherry Sunday.

To commemorate its birthday Google has replace the two Os in its logo with a delicious looking sundae.

Whether this particular Google Doodle means the Ice Cream OS is about to be released is anyone's guess, but it's certainly causing a buzz on the internet.

Android Ice Cream will fuse elements of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Android 3.0 and Google TV.

Google's artistic logo variations, which are now patented, are enormously popular, with recent Google Doodle
themes including Thomas Edison, Harry Houdini,

The Flintstone's 50th anniversary, Tchaikovsky and St Andrew's Day. One of the most popular, though, was Pac-Man.
