Chelsy Davy reportedly broke up with the royal over his army career

Prince Harry, the third in line for succession to the British throne, has split from his girlfriend Chelsy Davy after she decided she was "fed up of coming second" to his army career.

Friends of Chelsy have said the time the pair spent apart and Harry's lifestyle were to blame. It was Chelsy's decision to end the five-year relationship, they claimed.

A royal source confirmed that the pair had split-up, adding that the separation was amicable and they remained friends. The source said the couple had reached the stage in their careers where they could find themselves spending less time together. Harry is training to become an Army Air Corps helicopter pilot, while Chelsy is studying a postgraduate law course at Leeds University.

The break-up occurred after they spent part of the Christmas holidays in Mauritius.

Earlier break up

The couple had broken up for a short period in 2007. Though they were soon back together then, it now appears the relationship is finally over.

William rents lovepad for Kate
Prince William, who is training at a Royal Air Force base outside London, has rented a "lovepad" so that his girlfriend Kate Middleton can stay when she visits him. William will spend two years at a house owned by a family with royal connections. He will keep his one-bedroom bolthole at RAF Shawbury for Kate, who is expected to visit him often.
