Solar Impulse, the world's biggest solar-powered aircraft, took off from Switzerland Thursday for its first intercontinental flight to Morocco.
The aircraft started its voyage at Payerne in western Switzerland, Xinhua reported.
Solar Impulse make a stopover in Madrid Barajas airport before embarking on its final destination to Ouarzazate in central Morocco.
Pilots Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard will alternately fly the plane during its 2,500 km journey without fuel.
According to organizers, the current flight will act as a final dress rehearsal for the 2014 round-the-world flight.
