British police yesterday scoured dilapidated tenements in Liverpool in northwestern England looking for a "bomb factory" where 12 suspects held in a terror plot may have hidden explosives, as officials termed the foiled attack as "al-Qaeda driven". Police were granted a further seven day remand of the 11 of the 12 suspects, while an 18-year-old student was released into the custody of the UK Border Agency, for possible prosecution about his immigration status.
A police spokesman said that the rest of the 11 suspects arrested were being questioned and were held in custody in various locations across Britain.u00a0u00a0u00a0
