Tanaaz Lal was very young when she married a well-known stage and drama artist Farid Currim. She was abandoned by the Zoroastrian community for marrying outside the community. At age 20, Tanaaz gave birth to daughter Zianne. However, her marriage fell apart.
Tanaaz stepped into the television industry, post her divorce with Farid Currim. She met Bhakhtyar Irani in 2006 on the sets of Fame Gurukul and the duo eventually fell in love.
The couple tied the knot despite Bhakhtyar Irani's family being against the marriage initially as Tanaaz was 8 years older to Bhakhtyar. However, actress Delnaaz Irani (Tanaaz's sister-in-law) helped convince Bhaktyar's parents and the couple got married in 2007.

Talking about trust in a relationship, Tanaaz Irani said, "Come what may, trust between the couple is of utmost importance, especially if both parties work long hours. I think this is most crucial to ensure stability in the marriage and both have to strive to live up to it."
Talking about marriage, Tanaaz Irani said, "I think marriage is about the coming together of two families. Both have to accept the good and bad in each other. Sometimes you have to show appreciation, at others, make some compromises. I think remembering family members' birthdays; calling up relatives once-in-a-while goes a long way in forming strong ties."
Tanaaz Irani and Bhakhtyar Irani celebrated 12th wedding anniversary recently. "Love surpasses all differences. Even if there are things that I don't like doing, I do them just for my husband. For instance, if Bhakhtyar wants me to go with him to a party and I'm irritated because I don't want to go, I'll still end up going because it means a lot to him," Tanaaz said.
Talking about her husband Bhakhtyar, she said, "There has to be respect between the husband and wife. Even when you fight, I think you need to make up your mind about what you want to say. Never hit below the belt; there has to be a decorum to the fights. After all, in the heat of the moment, you don't want to say something that you didn't even mean."
