After the news of his death broke on social media, Bollywood celebrities like Madhuri Dixit Nene and Sonam K. Ahuja mourned the death of the "kindest, sweetest and most generous soul". Raj Kumar is survived by wife Sudha and son Sooraj Barjatya.
Rajshri Productions Pvt Ltd was established by Raj Kumar's father Tarachand Barjatya in 1947. The film production and distribution company has also produced titles like Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, Vivah and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
Raj Kumar's son Sooraj Barjatya, who is in his 50s, resurrected the banner when it was on the verge of closing by directing Maine Pyar Kiya, a blockbuster. Maine Pyar Kiya starred Salman Khan, Bhagyashree, Reema Lagoo, Alok Nath, Laxmikant Berde, among others.

Mohnish Bahl, who has worked in Rajshri's Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, Hum Saath Saath Hai, spoke about Raj Kumar Barjatya in an exclusive column in mid-day. "I owe my career completely to the Barjatyas. Rajkumar Barjatya ji was like an older statesman and benefactor. Whatever I am today, it is because of him, and his production house [Rajshri Productions]. The most amazing part about Rajkumar ji was that he was always calm and composed; one who could handle all kinds of situations with a lot of care," he wrote in his column.
Mohnish Bahl, remembering Raj Kumar Barjatya, also said, "He was a fair human being, and, on a personal note, they [Barjatyas] have been intrinsic in giving me the career that I have. His values were simple."

Maine Pyar Kiya actress Bhagyashree Patwardhan-Dasani visited the Barjatya residence to console Raj Kumar Barjatya's son and his family.
Bhagyashree made her Bollywood debut with Maine Pyaar Kiya, opposite Salman Khan. Her son Abhimanyu Dassani has also joined the film industry now.
Veteran actors Avinash Wadhavan and Kanwarjit Paintal also attended Raj Kumar Barjatya's funeral, which took place in Worli, Mumbai.
Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt tweeted, "Goodbye Sir ... you are the bravest producer that I’ve ever met. Saaransh was possible because of your invincible faith in me. They don’t make people like you anymore. Thank you for touching my life. Saaransh was possible because of his invincible faith in me. They don’t make people like him anymore. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt with wife Soni Razdan clicked at the funeral of filmmaker Raj Kumar Barjatya, held in Worli, Mumbai.
Swara Bhasker, who worked with the Barjatyas in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, remembered the senior Barjatya as "the kindest, sweetest, most generous soul and most wonderful people." "I will never forget interactions I was blessed to have with you and your enthusiastic encouragement of a young actor. Deep condolences to the Rajshri family a loss for us all," Swara said.
Actor Sachin Pilgaonkar, who worked with Raj Kumar Barjatya in his film Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) also paid his last respects at the Barjatyas' residence.
