    Bollywood actor Ajaz Khan was arrested on October 22, 2018, by the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Navi Mumbai Police for alleged possession of banned drugs. The controversial actor was arrested from a hotel room in Belapur with eight tablets of the prohibited 'ecstasy' tablets, which are popular in rave parties. This is not Ajaz's first brush with the law. 3 years ago, he was arrested and released on bail on charges of sending obscene pictures and lewd messages to a beautician who had offered him a business project proposal.

    In 1982, Sanjay Dutt, son of late veteran actor and Congress leader Sunil Dutt, was arrested in a drug case wherein he was sentenced to 5-months of imprisonment.     Item girl Mumait Khan's stint in Bigg Boss Telegu was cut short in 2017 after she received summons from the excise department as part of a probe into Tollywood's links with drug peddlers. Mumait Khan was issued notices under Section 67 of NDPS Act. The racket involved in supplying high-end drugs such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) and methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA). In July 2017, she appeared before the special investigation team (SIT), which had been questioning several Telugu film personalities in connection with its probe into the drug racket busted in Hyderabad.

    Former Bollywood actor Mamta Kulkarni was named as an accused in connection with the Rs 2,000-crore narcotics racket unearthed in Thane in April 2016. Mamta Kulkarni's Kenya-based husband Vicky Goswami was named as one of the main accused in this case. Vicky Goswami is reportedly believed to be a notorious drug lord wanted by the US authorities for running an international drug racket. In 2017, a special Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) court has ordered the confiscation of assets belonging to Mamta Kulkarni, in connection with a drugs smuggling case

    Bollywood actor and son of veteran actor Feroz Khan, Fardeen Khan, was arrested by the Mumbai police for the possession of cocaine on May 5, 2001. He was charged with "illegal possession, although the quantity was for personal consumption of any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance or actual consumption of such a drug". In 2012, Fardeen Khan was granted bail with immunity in the drug case

    Bollywood actor Apurva Agnihotri and wife Shilpa Saklani were detained at a rave party, busted by the Mumbai police in 2012. The couple insisted they weren't aware it was a rave party. Apurva Agnihotri, along with 44 others, tested positive in the drug test. According to a police officer on the case, "Since the party-goers are not accused of possessing 'commercial quantity of drugs', they would get bail after the arrest."

    Son of former Union cabinet minister Pramod Mahajan, Rahul Mahajan, who participated in 'Bigg Boss Season 2', made headlines for his apparent excessive drug abuse, especially cocaine. He was also accused of consuming and distributing drugs at his father's residence at a late-night party in June 2006. In 2007, Rahul Mahajan was charged under sections 29 (criminal conspiracy and abetment) and 25 (punishment for supply and distribution of contraband) under the NDPS Act.

    Celebrity DJ Aqeel was allegedly caught in 2007 with ecstasy tablets in his bag at the international airport in Dubai. However, his lawyer said, "Aqeel was honourably discharged by the prosecutor (the Indian equivalent of Magistrate) as there was no sustainable evidence against him." Aqeel was released after a few days when authorities could not prove him guilty after they conducted tests on him.
