BSF personnel deployed at India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Amritsar were seen shaking a leg with the local community on the occasion of Holi. Security personnel deployed at Border Outposts (BOPs) along the India-Bangladesh borders were also seen celebrating Holi. Inspector General Suryakant Sharma said, "...All the personnel here are involved in the security of the country; I extend my best wishes to them and their family... I know their families are a thousand miles apart, but the entire country is with them..."

He saluted the BSF contingents during the parade and honored the BSF jawans who had recently killed three terrorists from Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) in an operation. The event marked an important milestone for the BSF, which celebrates its Raising Day on December 1, the day it was established in 1965. During the ceremony, Shah also unveiled a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Circuit House. This event highlighted the BSF’s long history and its crucial role in protecting India’s borders and maintaining security.

The security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed this ceremony since 1959. The drill is characterized by elaborate and rapid dance-like manoeuvres and raising legs as high as possible. It is both a symbol of the two countries’ rivalry and a display of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations. One can sense patriotism running high at both sides of the border. People chant 'Jai Hind', Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram. Similar parades are organised at the Mahavir/Sadqi border near Fazilka, and the Hussainiwala/Ganda Singh Wala border near Firozpur.
