This year, Holi will be celebrated on March 14th, but the fun has already begun. The famous Laddu Mar Holi was celebrated in the Shri Ladliji Maharaj temple in Barsana, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. In Nandgaon, Uttar Pradesh, the fun started with the traditional Lathmar Holi, where people reenact Lord Krishna’s playful visit to Radha's village. It's a unique and vibrant tradition filled with love, laughter, and mischief! In Mathura, tourists were also seen enjoying the festive spirit at the Shri Krishna Janambhumi Temple, where the beautiful 'Phoolon Ki Holi' (Flower Holi) is taking place. Meanwhile, in Ayodhya, visitors celebrated“Holi with god” at the famous Hanuman Garhi Temple. The Holi fun isn’t just in India—Holi is making its mark in Nepal too! The traditional Chir ceremony kicked off in Kathmandu, with the sacred bamboo Chir being raised at the Basantapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Manandhars from the Newa community have been celebrating this ancient tradition for generations, welcoming Holi in their own special way. And in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur, women from the Ganga Mahila Self-help group prepared eco-friendly herbal gulal (colored powder) for the festivities. They’re using natural ingredients like beetroot, palash flowers, green leaves, and other fruits and flowers, promoting a more sustainable celebration.
