Delhi CM Kejriwal on 23rd May posted a video on X saying that Delhi Police will come to interrogate his elderly and ailing parents. Though he didn't mention the reason but there's a suspicion that it is something related to the ongoing Swati Maliwal case. Delhi Minister Atishi launched a scathing attack on the BJP over Delhi Police questioning Arvind Kejriwal’s parents in the Swati Maliwal assault case. Attacking BJP, the AAP leader said that all limits have been crossed and that Arvind Kejriwal’s old and ailing parents have been called for questioning today. On top of that, she said that PM Modi has stooped to this level

Amid the explosive political fallout of the arrest of his former aide Bibhav Kumar in connection with the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MLA Swati Maliwal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 21 came out all guns blazing at the BJP-led Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Invoking the arrest of several of his party leaders, the CM, who himself is out on interim bail in connection with a money laundering case linked to the now-junked Delhi excise policy, questioned if the people elected a prime minister or a 'thanedar' (police officer). Addressing a public rally at Bhajanpura, ahead of polling for the Lok Sabha in the national capital on May 25, the AAP national convenor said, "It is up to you (people). If you vote for the 'Lotus' symbol (of the BJP), I will have to go back to jail. But if you push the 'Hand' symbol (of ally Congress), I may not have to go to jail. They (BJP) have unleashed 'gundagardi' (hooliganism) on the Opposition." Watch video for more.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 17 went all guns blazing on Arvind Kejriwal amid heated political slugfest sparked by the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal by the Delhi CM's close aide. Berating Kejriwal as “shameless”, FM Sitharaman lampooned the Delhi CM for evading question related to Swati Maliwal’s alleged assault case. The Delhi police filed an FIR in connection with the alleged assault on May 16 evening, naming the Delhi CM's personal assistant, Bibhav Kumar. The Civil Lines Police registered a case under sections 354, 506, 509, and 323, among other IPC sections, for offence including assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty, criminal intimidation, word gesture or acts of intent to insult, and assault.

Supreme Court grants Interim bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

On May 10, the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until June 1. He is required to surrender on June 2. The court did not accept his lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi's, request to extend the bail until June 4. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate as part of a money laundering investigation linked to alleged irregularities in the scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22.
