Watch security mock drill at New Parliament

Several Units of the Delhi Police and the National Security Guard carried out a security mock drill in Delhi on May 03. During the mock drill, Delhi Police and NSG cordoned off the Parliament building for the drill. Choppers Swung in action and Black Cat commands rappelled down the ropes on Parliament building. The mock drill comes at a time when the nation is celebrating biggest festival of democracy, Lok Sabha Elections. Black Cat commandos are specialized and well-trained in counterterrorism operations in different landscapes. Federal contingency world class zero error force deals with anti-terrorist activities in all its manifestation. NSG is a force specially equipped and trained to deal with specific situations to thwart serious acts of terrorism.

Haryana Bus Accident: Tragic incident kills over 5 children

More than five students were killed and 15 others were injured after a private school bus overturned in Kanina town of Haryana’s Mahendragarh district on April 11. The driver is believed to have been drunk, say the police. Police sources said that  the bus's driver jumped out of the speeding vehicle after losing control of it and it rammed a tree. The injured were immediately admitted to private hospitals. The kids were on their way to GL Public School, a private school located in Kanina of Mahendragarh when the tragic incident took place. President Droupadi Murmu extended her condolences for the tragic loss of schoolchildren in Haryana bus accident.

Bengal Cyclone: Deadly cyclone in Bengal's Jalpaiguri kills 5, over 170 injured

A deadly cyclone wreaked havoc in parts of WB’s Jalpaiguri as rain and hailstorms hit area causing major damage to life and property. As many as five people have lost their lives over 100 got injured as weather’s wrath on March 31. JGMCH Medical Superintendent said that as many as 49 are admitted and over 170 patients reported in emergency department. Taking to ‘X’, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assured supporting affected families and compensation to them. She visited Jalpaiguri to take stock of the situation and also met the victims at the hospital. Iran strikes Pakistan: Iran’s military kills militant group commander in Pak

Iran’s military has reportedly killed a senior Jaish-al-Adl militant group commander and some of his companions. The armed clash happened inside Pakistan’s territory a month after two countries conducted airstrikes against each other. Notably, this is first such instance after the conclusion of the recent general elections in Pakistan. Formed in 2012, Jaish al-Adl is designated as a "terrorist" organization by Iran. It is a Sunni terrorist group that operates in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchistan (Info Source- Al Arabiya News). The group has a history of carrying out attacks against the Iranian security forces. Weeks after the airstrikes were carried out, two nations mutually agreed to expand security cooperation. In recent times, this is the second such instance when Iran strikes Pakistan. On Jan 16, Iran had carried out airstrikes in Pakistan’s territory and then the latter withdrew its ambassador. On Jan 18, Pakistan retaliated and carried out airstrikes saying that it attacked ‘terrorist militant organisations’. Pakistan had said that they can resolve “misunderstandings” quickly but the recent strike depict the opposite.

The New Criminal Justice Law Will End 'Tareekh Pe Tareekh' Era

Home Minister Amit Shah on December 21 said that the three new criminal justice laws have drawn from India’s legal jurisprudence and with their implementation, the country will have a vast contribution of technology in its criminal justice system. Replying to debate in Rajya Sabha on bills that seek to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC) of 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act, Amit Shah said that the implementation of new criminal laws will ensure an end to 'tareekh pe tareekh' era and justice will be given in three years.

Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bills: Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s fiery speech

While speaking on Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita Bills 2023 in Lok Sabha, BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on December 20 supported the Bills and made a fiery speech in the Parliament. She also lambasted Congress and opposition leaders for opposing the Bills. The Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita bill seeks to replace the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, which is the principal law on criminal offence in India. The new bill adds community service as a form of punishment. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023 seeks to replace the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 (CrPC). The CrPC provides for the procedure for arrest, prosecution, and bail. The Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023 (BSB2) replaces the Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

Parliament Winter Session: 45 opposition MPs suspended from Rajya Sabha

Hours after 33 members were suspended from Lok Sabha for "misconduct" for the remainder of Parliament winter session on Monday, 45 members from the opposition including Congress' Jairam Ramesh, Randeep Surjewala and KC Venugopal were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the remaining period of the session which concludes on December 22. While 34 members were suspended for the remaining part of the session, the "misconduct" of 11 others was also referred to the Privileges Committee, which has been asked to give its report in three months. They have been suspended until the report is submitted by the panel. After the motion for suspension was adopted by the House, the Chairman asked the suspended members to leave the precincts. But the opposition members continued raising slogans. He then adjourned the House for the day.
