Sri Lanka-bound cricketer Harbhajan Singh had to wait outside the departure hall of the Anna International Airport here as he could not produce a valid ticket yesterday.

The off-spinner arrived in the city from Mumbai in the morning and was received by a representative of the hotel where other members of the Indian team were staying overnight.

Harbhajan was escorted to the adjoining international departure terminal, but was not allowed entry as he could not produce a valid ticket.

The security personnel advised Harbhajan to visit the airport manager, who too pointed out that as per rules, he could not admit anyone inside the terminal without a valid entry document.

Harbhajan opted to wait outside and sit in the visitors' lounge until the Indian team, travelling on a group ticket, arrived from the nearby hotel after 45 minutes before boarding the noon flight to Colombo.
