Chelsea lodge ref abuse complaint

Chelsea announced yesterday that they have lodged a formal complaint with the Football Association over allegations referee Mark Clattenburg used “inappropriate language” towards John Obi Mikel.

Chelsea allege Clattenburg abused Nigerian midfielder Mikel during their 2-3 loss to Man United in the EPL on Sunday. Reports suggested Chelsea believe the language used by Clattenburg towards Mikel was of a racial nature. The FA are to investigate the matter. The police will also conduct a probe.
