Ranchi: After the day's play, Cheteshwar Pujara, talking the official broadcasters said that his experience of playing long inning in domestic cricket helped him stick to his game plan yesterday.

"I have the experience of scoring big runs in domestic cricket. That experience helped a lot," said the double centurion and added that he could have played more shots but restrained himself as the team needed him to stay on the wicket. "You look at the bigger picture. When I was batting, I thought we just wanted to get close to their total somehow. I had to restrict myself at times. I could have played more shots, but I didn't want to lose my wicket," added Pujara.

On his 199-run match-saving partnership with wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha, Pujara said: "We kept talking to each other and encouraged each other to stay focused. We have played a lot of cricket together. We know each other really well, even off the field. We spend a lot of time together so the understanding is there and it showed in the partnership."

On his take on the final day's play, the India No. 3 said: "I am very confident our spinners will bowl really well. There is rough, there are cracks, it won't be easy for the Australians."
