THE debate over whether Shah Rukh Khan should have hinted that Sunil Gavaskar is not qualified to speak about Twenty20 since he did not play the game might never end and the two greats in their field will have ardent supporters.

But what Shah Rukh did say rightly is that the theory ofu00a0 multiple captains ideated by John Buchanan, which has come under heavy criticism from Gavaskar, is not a novel concept being introduced by Kolkata Knight Riders.

"Last year, Kings XI Punjab had a fielding coach, bowling coach and a batting coach while Yuvraj Singh was the overall captain," the actor said yesterday.

"Just because they did not come out with it in the open and we have since it is a novel concept, we are being criticised. It is something we are looking at as part of the evolvement process and if it fails, there is always the traditional way of doing things that we can go back to."

While SRK had the 'please let me do my job' attitude, he also said Gavaskar had a lot of experience and his opinion could not be ignored.

"His is the only article I have read on this controversy because all of us respect him. In fact, I have sent the article to everyone including Buchanan and the support staff."
