Batting first, Australia scores 304 for eight in 50 overs. In reply, UAE were bowled out for a mere 116 in 30.1 overs Clarke, captaining Australia for the first time since the surgery almost two months ago, spent just over 90 minutes at the crease.

The 33-year-old was promoted to opener to maximise his time in the middle. He steadied and kept the scoreboard ticking over in a 123-run partnership with Aaron Finch.

National selectors will now assess Clarke today before considering the merits of an earlier-than-expected recall for Saturday's World Cup opener against England.

Brief scores
Australia 304-8 (M Clarke 64, A Finch 61, S Smith 59, K Chandran 3-50) beat UAE 116 in 30.1 overs (S Patil 31; X Doherty 2-3, J Hazlewood 2-12) by 188 runs
