Foreign recruits like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Sanath Jayasuriya have yet to come to the party.
Jayasuriya (32 runs in 3 games) and Bravo (56 runs in 8 games) have lost their places in the first XI owing to indifferent form.u00a0 As MI take on a resurgent Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, all eyes are now on Pollard. He has chipped in with cameos, but is yet to unleash the power-packed match-winning innings expected of him.
"He's not got an opportunity to play his natural attacking game because we have been losing early wickets.
MI's director of cricket TA Sekar is not too worried. "Pollard's role is to come in when there are six to seven overs left and go for the big shots. But when we lose early wickets, he has to play out a few overs to steady the ship. He is getting valuable 20s and we are confident he will start playing match-winning innings soon," said Sekar, the former India pacer.
