Former India batsman Surinder Amarnath is pained at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's decision to drop his younger brother Mohinder from the senior national selection committee after just one year

Jimmy did nothing wrong, says brother Surinder

There is talk that Mohinder paid the price for suggesting a change in captaincy after MS Dhoni lost eight overseas Tests well inside 12 months.

No harm
“Even if Mohinder expressed his views about a change in captaincy, what harm has he done to Indian cricket? Everyone has his own views and it should not have been taken so seriously,” said Surinder.

Reacting to the BCCI president N Srinivasan’s remark, “we wanted a new-look selection panel,” Surinder said: “I doubt Mohinder was informed officially about the decision. What we understand is, the selectors are guaranteed a minimum two-year term which would be reviewed thereafter.”

With regards to talk about Mohinder upsetting the BCCI by donating an autographed bat to Cricket Australia while the Board was planning to have its own museum, Surinder said: “My father (Lala) was presented a miniature bat on India’s tour of Australia in 1947-48 by a craftsman in Australia.

“All our family members have seen that bat. It was with Mohinder for many years. He may have thought of gifting it to Cricket Australia since it was presented by an Australian. By the way, where do we have a museum and how would my brother would know that the Indian board is also planning its own museum?”
