The Mumbai Cricket Association officials, who have been at loggerheads with the Indian Premier League organisers, had another bad experience during the IPL final at the DY Patil Stadium.

Apparently, the IPL organisers had given some 100-odd VIP pavilion passes for the final to the MCA. The passes were for MCA's managing committee, sub-committee members and former international and national players.

However, according to MCA hon secretary Lalchand Rajput when the pass holders reached the stadium gate, they were shocked at being told that their passes were not valid.

"I was stunned when I received calls from those whom we had distributed passes to, saying that they were denied entry. I immediately called up IPL CEO Sundar Raman and told him that he could not have our people standing outside and be humiliated. He then sorted out the matter and our pass holders were permitted inside the stadium for the game," Rajput told MiD DAY.

Earlier, MCA had taken a decision to boycott the IPL matches after they were not allotted any tickets for the games in Mumbai. However, they later softened their stand following the intervention of MCA president Sharad Pawar.

However, it is indeed shocking to see the treatment meted out to Mumbai's former India players. The fraternity has been conspicuous by its absence for all IPL games in Mumbai as they have been ignored by the organisers. It has definitely taken some sheen out of the event.
