Shakib, the 25-year-old former national captain, will have an operation in Australia this week for a shinbone injury which he has been suffering all season.

“He is expected to be able to resume playing four to six weeks after the surgery,” said Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Debashis Chowdhury, adding that Shakib would also need longer-term treatment for other injuries.u00a0
