Cricket's decision review system will not be used in the forthcoming Test series between England and India after the one-day world champions signalled their opposition, it was confirmed yesterday.
A spokesman for the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said the system, used during last year's Ashes series, the World Cup and England's ongoing series with Sri Lanka, had been vetoed by India.
England and India begin a four-match series at Lord's on July 21, the 100th Test match between the two teams and the 2,000th Test in history.
Although the decision review system has proved broadly popular since its introduction, both countries must agree to its use before a series begins.
The ECB spokesman confirmed the Board of Control for Cricket in India had indicated their unwillingness to agree to it for this summer's series but declined to comment further.
