Pakistan spearhead Mohammad Asif struck an early blow, claiming the wicket of opener Simon Katich for 11 on the first morning of the third Test against Australia at the Bellerive Oval today.

Australia elected to bat and were 35 for one after nine overs. Opening the attack, Asif got the breakthrough on the last ball of the seventh over when he had Katich leg-before wicket.
