Parthiv Patel dropped like a hot potato: Gaekwad

Former India coach and selector Anshuman Gaekwad is livid that Parthiv Patel was left out of the Indian squad for the England tour. Wriddhiman Saha, who was sent home after the ODI series in West Indies, has been picked as second wicketkeeper. Patel is in the reserves for the ongoing Test series in the Caribbean.

"It is horrible. What has Saha done? It is amazing nobody questions this. Parthiv did well in the ODIs. He is in the reserves for the Test series and is just dropped like a hot potato. If Parthiv wasn't good then he should have been sent home after the ODI series," Gaekwad fumed.

While Patel scored 147 runs in the five-match ODI series with a half-century in the second match at Queen's Park Oval, Saha did not get to play a game.u00a0 "I feel very sorry for Parthiv. Just as things seemed to settle down for him, he is left out again. I heard Sunil Gavaskar saying there is regionalism. The fact remains that somebody who is good is good. The five selectors sitting there are choosing a team for India and not for their zones. There is absolutely no reason for his axe. I fear that he might stop playing cricket for this reason now," added Gaekwad.
