Leg-spinner Pravin Tambe led DY Patil (B) to an impressive 24-run win over Central Railway (CR) in the 12th IDBI Federal Life Insurance DY Patil T20 Cup on Saturday.
Tambe’s spell was the talking point of the day as he helped his side to overcome a stiff challenge from CR. The railway side was on track to chase down the DY Patil (B) total of 155-5 in 20 overs. CR were at 83-1 at the end of 10 overs and were favourites to overhaul the target. But then the chase slowed down as accurate bowling by Tambe stemmed the flow of runs.
Finally, Amit Paunikar (59 not out) was left stranded CR managed 131-5 in 20 overs.
In another match, KB Pawan’s unbeaten 58 off 42 balls helped Canara Bank chase down Jain Irrigation’s total of 165-8. Pawan held the Canara Bank innings together. Then, in the company of Suneel Raju, helped his side to seal the win.
