Jose Mourinho enjoyed his biggest win in charge of Real Madrid as his side crushed Deportivo La Coruna 6-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu last night to move two points behind leaders Valencia.

Goals had been few and far between for Real with six goals in the first five matches but Madrid found their shooting boots and took their frustration out on hapless Deportivo.

Barca stumble again
Champions Barcelona dropped two more home points in a frustrating 1-1 draw with Real Mallorca at Camp Nou last night and fell three points behind league leaders Valencia.

Lionel Messi made his first league start since injuring his ankle a fortnight ago and netted his third goal of the campaign on 20 minutes to put Barca ahead, but Emilio N'Sue equalised with a header three minutes before half-time.

Two goals in three home matches is a poor return for Barca and the Mallorca draw, coupled with the shock loss to promoted Hercules, mean Barcelona have already dropped five points at home.

Inter held
In Rome, Inter Milan lost top spot in Serie A as Juventus held them to a dull 0-0 draw at the San Siro last night.

Lazio took over the league leadership as Stefano Mauri scored the only goal of the game to beat Brescia 1-0.

Inter drop to second with Napoli moving up to third as they beat second-bottom AS Roma 2-0 at the San Paolo stadium in Naples.

Bayern shocked
Bayern Munich's Bundesliga slump continued when they suffered their second straight league defeat as they were beaten 2-0 at second-placed Dortmund in Rome. After Bayern lost 2-1 to new leaders Mainz last weekend, this was Louis van Gaal-coached Munich's third defeat of the season from seven games.u00a0
