With Mashrafe Mortaza still recuperating from a knee surgery, Bangladesh today replaced the regular skipper with rookie pacer Shafiul Islam in the 14-member squad for the two-Test series against India starting January 17.
Regular captain Mortaza's lay-off means Shakib Al Hasan will continue to lead the hosts, who have crashed out of the ongoing ODI tri-series after losing all their preliminary matches.
The 20-year-old Islam made his limited-overs debut in the ongoing tri-series. The opening Test of the series will be played in Chittagong and the second and final Test will be held in Dhaka from January 24.
Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, Raqibul Hossain, Mohammad Mahmudullah, Shahriar Nafees, Shahadat Hossain, Rubel Hossain, Enamul Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Shafiul Islam.
