Former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar was here yesterday to invite Sachin Tendulkar to his son's wedding next month.
The fans at VCA Stadium were bracing for Tendulkar's 50th Test century, but unfortunately the master blaster was dismissed for 61 by Kiwi pacer Andy McKay.
After the lunch interval, Vengsarkar asked Tendulkar about the dismissal and he said it was a fine delivery that came back in sharply and beat his bat. Later in the day, Vengsarkar told MiD DAY: "Obviously, he (Tendulkar) was disappointed to miss out on his 50th Test century. But a player of his calibre will be able to get there quickly. It is just a matter of time. Rahul Dravid's knock (191) was really special. Also, skipper MS Dhoni (98) proved that he has tremendous potential to accelerate the scoring. They were unlucky to miss out (on a double ton and century respectively)."
