On Wednesday, Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) will host their first-ever Test match. There’s more to that historic occasion though. For the first time ever — at least in Indian cricket — two women scorers will keep record of runs, wickets and catches on the scorecard.
Former coach Hemali Desai and Sejal Dave will be on official duty at SCA’s Rajkot Stadium from Nov 9.
“Our inaugural Test is a historic occasion, so we thought why not make history and have both these ladies as scorers,” said SCA’s secretary Niranjan Shah. Desai (40) has been a scorer with SCA since 1994, while Dave has been scoring for them for the last 12 years.
