Durban: South Africa spinner Aaron Phangiso’s participation in this month’s ICC World Twenty20 is in doubt after tests proved his action is currently illegal.

Phangiso was reported for a suspected illegal action in a domestic limited-overs match last week, after which tests in Pretoria concluded that all the left-arm slow bowler’s deliveries exceeded the maximum 15 degrees of tolerance to straighten the arm in delivery under International Cricket Council regulations.

The 32-year-old is therefore suspended from bowling and will take no part in South Africa’s two Twenty20 internationals against Australia, before they leave for the global tournament in India.
