Vijay Mallya made a surprise visit when the Sri Lankan team was practising under lights at Wankhede Stadium yesterday. The liquor baron, who was accompanied with BCCI Chief Administrative Officer and World Cup tournament director Prof Ratnakar Shetty, was keen to checkout his corporate box at the revamped stadium.
He seemed quite impressed with the facelift the stadium had got.
He also met Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan and urged him to remain fit for the Indian Premier League (IPL), which kicks off on April 8, six days after the World Cup final. Dilshan was bought by Mallya's Royal Challengers Bangalore for $650,000 during the IPL IV auction.
