Thereafter, they encountered a sharp decline in their performance, resulting in a massive 338-run defeat. The lack of a fight was something that left veteran batsman Hemang Badani disappointed, but he hoped Vidarbha would grow wiser after this trouncing.

“There is no doubt that we had our chances, but it’s the end result which counts and it’s pretty obvious that we could not match Mumbai,” admitted Badani, who has been playing for Vidarbha for the past couple of years after spending the best part of his career with Tamil Nadu.

Badani felt their inexperience of playing against the best domestic sides was another factor which contributed to the defeat. “We are still an upcoming side and the players have not had the opportunity to test themselves against the best in the business.

So hopefully, with sustained exposure against good sides, our performance too will improve,” he said.
