Team India emerged victorious by five wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium.

During the match, Team India's mystery spinner, Varun Chakaravarthy, bagged two wickets by conceding 30 runs in four overs.

Speaking on his overall campaign, Chakaravarthy said Team India's head coach Gautam Gambhir and skipper Suryakumar Yadav assigned him the tough role of bowling in the powerplay.

"Very glad to be doing this role for Team India and definitely when Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav told me, they told me that I'll be doing the tougher role and as in bowling in the powerplay and bowling in the death also," said the spinner.

The 34-year-old also gave a special mention a special to Tilak Varma for building crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube.

"Initial powerplay for us in batting didn't go well, and definitely they did put us under some pressure. They bowled well, and they came up with a plan to bowl slower ones. But the way Tilak and Sanju took off from there, and Dubey carrying on, and the way Rinku came and finished it, it was amazing," he said.

During the match, Varma stitched two crucial partnerships with Shivam Dube and Sanju Samson. Later, Rinku Singh scored the winning runs by smashing a boundary in Haris Rauf's over.

With this, the "Men in Blue" clinched the title by defeating Pakistan by five wickets. The defeat in the final also marked Pakistan's third loss against Team India in the same tournament.

After defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final, Team India refused to accept the trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi.
