Team India lead pacer Jasprit Bumrah had featured in only three Test matches against England, considering his workload management.

But former BCCI chairman of selectors, Chetan Sharma, has backed him by saying that players should go by the physiotherapist's advice as they are better judges.

"If our physios is telling a player to manage workload, I think we should listen to them because they are the better judges," said Sharma.

Further speaking, he said that whichever player will be picked for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, they will be the best for the country. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on September 9. Team India will play their tournament's opening match against the UAE on September 10.

"I know that whoever is selected will be the best for the country. And the kind of cricket we are playing right now, I'm really proud with the way India played in England," he said.

"And I'm very confident that we are definitely going to win the Asia Cup (to be played in T20 format) because soon after that we are playing the T20 World Cup (in 2026) in India," added the former pacer.

Sharma, who has played 23 Test matches for India, pressed on the fact that playing in a World Cup at your home is a very big thing for a player.

"It's a very big thing when you are playing (the World Cup) in you own backyard. If the intent is right, the results will also be good," said the 59-year-old.

Ahead of the continental tournament, there are several speculations over Shubman Gill's selection, considering that the format is of 20 overs.

Speaking on whether he should be included in India's squad, Chetan said, "Look, that is up to the selectors what they see. My opinion does not matter because I am no longer the chairman (of selectors), so I will only say that the best possible team should be selected".

"We have such good cricketers that not just the top-15 but even if the top-30 are selected, they are all very good. Really proud of them," concluded the veteran of 65 ODI matches.
